Let the School Year Begin

Posted by Chad under: Chad's .

Hey Everyone,

We are back in Parras and in about 2 hours the kids will begin to arrive.  Tonight we will have our basic orientation and go over our rules here at the house.  This year is going to be crazy from the get go.  We have 5 elementary kids, 15 Jr. Highers, 3 High schoolers, and 2 college students.  It is divided with 12 boys and 11 girls here at the house and Glenda and Juanito in College.

Can you imagine having 18 Jr. High and HS students living in your house?  We are excited but once again the need to have separate homes is quite clear.  We are hoping that over the next several months we will be able to raise enough funds to make an initial down payment.  At this time we are close to half way to the initial $10,000 dollars.

To lay out the need for those of you whom we may not have been able to talk to.  We have found a property about a 10 minute walk from our current house that meets our needs very well.  The property is bigger than what we have now, and has a house already constructed that was built as a children’s home.  It is well designed, but in need of minor repair and finishing.  The owner wants $40,000 dollars for the entire place.  It is perfect for our future needs.  The owner is willing to take $10,000 dollars and then give us 3-4 years to payoff the remaining $30,000.

Of course once we buy it we will need to clean and furnish it, not to mention raising additional monthly support for the new staff and expanded capacity for students.  With the other property and the one we have we could conceivably host 40-45 students.  We would use one house for a girls home and one as a boys home.

We are very excited about the kids coming back today.  We are excited for this school year and all of the things that God has planned for us.  Here at the house we have several new kids and with that always comes major adjusting for everyone.  For Alise and I, expecting a daughter about mid January makes for a  great deal of excitement as well.

Please be praying for the kids here at the house, for our health, and for all of the various needs we have.  Especially pray for our project to purchase the new property.  Pray that God would inspire people to give towards the project, and that everything will go smoothly with the owner.  Finally pray for the spiritual  growth and maturing of the children here at the home.

We pray all is well with you, thank you for all of your support in prayer and finances.  I will send a few more updates this week complete with photos :).  God Bless!

-Chad & Alise
