Hey Everyone!
Posted by Chad under: Chad's .
I hope that all is well for you and your families. Things are going well with us. We are having a good year, though already there have been significant challenges. We have 3 new kids this year and one girl that used to live here has returned.
We started the school year with 25 kids here at the house. Right now we have 22, though 2 of those are at Universities in Saltillo so we only see them on the weekends. Most of the kids are doing very well. The new ones are adjusting well. The youngest, Charito (pictured left with Gabi his sister and the other Gaby), who is only 6 years old is super brave. Not one time has the little guy cried or wet the bed or anything. He is a great kid and we are so happy to have him and his two older sisters here with us.
One of the hardest parts of our work here is having to remove kids from the home. It is always difficult to decide when enough is enough. We have had to ask 3 kids to leave since school started. That is never easy. One is a 15 year old girl that has been struggling with following any rules since the end of last school year. We told her when she returned that she was already on thin ice. After skipping 3 days of school in 2 weeks we were done. The other two were much more difficult. Sergio and Lupe are brother and sister. They lived with us for the 1st month of the school year. After 1 month it was clear that Sergio’s behavioral problems were beyond our capacity to deal with. He and his sister left together.
Alise’s belly is growing and we are counting down the days to becoming parents. She is due mid-January and we are super excited. We have not decided on a name yet, but I think we are getting close. I mean we have one picked out, but are holding off the decision in case we discover a name we both like better. We are having a little girl. We are so excited!!! I bought her a bay blanket that is super soft and cute. hmmm spoiled… I think not… not yet anyway :).
I want to update you on the Project of the 2nd house. I met with the owner two weeks ago. She and her husband are very willing to work with us to pay off the property in chunks. At this time she is working to get some of the ownership papers ready for the sale agreement, I expect to see her again in Nov. Hopefully at that time we can make a down payment. Then we can start making the repairs so that we can get the boys in there sometime early 2010. At this time the sale price is $40,000 USD. At this time we have raised just less than $5K. Please pray that God would inspire churches and families to partner with us in this project. I have developed a document that shows the property and facility layout of the second home, if you would like to see it email me at chad@vidanuevaparras.org.
Finally, Alise and I will be heading back to Texas this coming weekend for about 2 weeks. I will be traveling to Seattle to be part of a class being put on by Bakke Graduate School. I have enrolled and been given a scholarship to pursue a Masters Degree in Missions. I am very excited about this as well. I will be in Seattle from Oct 1-Oct 7. I will be speaking at Northlake Christian Church on Sunday Night Oct 4th at 6PM. It should be a lot of fun. If you would like to get together with me, please feel free to email me. Love and miss you all. God Bless! Chad & Alise

Hey Chadly,
If you want, on Oct. 2 you are invited to watch some NW H.S. Football. Jackson plays Lake Stevens in Everett. Check out our web site at Jacksonfootballboosters.org. There are highlight videos of our games. Kiefer is number 57, plays OL and DL. He is doing well. Maybe Collins will be well enough to join us by then.
God Bless. Dan
